The
currency in Denmark is Danish kroner (DKK) which is divided into 100 øre.
The coin series comprises six denominations: 50 øre, and 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 kroner.
The series of banknotes comprises 5 denominations: 50 kroner, 100 kroner, 200 kroner, 500 kroner, and 1000 kroner.
As from 1 October 2008, the 25-øre coin will no longer be legal tender, and the smallest Danish coin will thus be the 50-øre coin. After 1 October, the 25-øre coin can be encashed at Danmarks Nationalbank until further notice.

The Danmarks Nationalbank Denmark is not part of the EURO-monetary system, but major shops will probably give prices both in Danish kroner and in EURO (€). Most major international credit cards are accepted in Denmark.
Import/export of currency
There are no restrictions on taking banknotes and coins out of or bringing them into Denmark.
Anyone who enters or leaves the Danish customs area carrying money, etc. exceeding 10,000 euro in value shall at their own initiative go through a customs check and shall declare all money, etc. to the customs and tax authorities. The expression "money, etc." comprises cash, as well as bearer papers such as traveller's cheques.
