The Darning Needle

The Darning Needle was made by Frede Troelsen.

The sculpture is designed with two parts - the darning needle and the pin. The darning needle is made out of red Swedish granite and the pin of granite from Bornholm.

The artist was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale: The Darning Needle. It is a story about a darning needle, that was so snobbish that it pretended to be a sewing needle even when it was lost and forgotten in the gutter together with the more modest pin.
