Art on the table
Why do artists paint flowers, fruit and everyday objects again and again? The answer can be found in Art on the Table! at Brandts Art Museum. Here, you can discover more than 90 artworks showing how even the most ordinary objects can tell stories about life, beauty, dreams and transformation. The exhibition brings together art from the 17th century to the present day, offering a fresh perspective on the objects that surround us every day.

Discover the art in everyday objects
A bowl of fruit, a bouquet of flowers or a set table may seem quite ordinary at first glance. Yet these motifs have been used in art for centuries to tell stories about everything from wealth and pleasure to transience and new beginnings. The exhibition invites you to explore the many details and meanings hidden behind these familiar objects.
From lavish displays to modern interpretations
Art on the Table! takes you on a journey through more than 400 years of art history. Discover traditional still lifes featuring flowers, fruit and precious objects alongside contemporary works that reinterpret the genre in new and surprising ways. Together, the artworks show how artists throughout history have found inspiration in the things that surround us. Among the artists featured are leading figures of Danish Modernism as well as contemporary artists who bring new life to the genre. These encounters between past and present offer a chance to see familiar motifs from a fresh perspective.
