As darkness falls, Odense ZOO is transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland with more than one million lights spread throughout the park. The lights create a festive setting for your visit, while paths and themed areas are decorated for the season. At the same time, visitors can meet the zoo’s animals and discover how some of them adapt to the colder months in their thick winter coats.

Christmas at Odense ZOO combines classic Christmas traditions with the unique experiences of a zoo visit. Families can explore the animal exhibits while enjoying the special atmosphere that fills the zoo throughout the festive season.

Christmas stalls, Santa and festive treats

Throughout the zoo, Christmas stalls offer seasonal treats as well as gift ideas. Warm up with a cup of mulled wine, enjoy freshly baked æbleskiver, or treat yourself to homemade roasted almonds. Visitors can also browse stalls featuring interior design items, ceramics and other Christmas-inspired products.

Santa also makes an appearance at Odense ZOO, welcoming visitors to his gift workshop. Younger guests in particular will enjoy meeting one of Christmas’s most beloved characters.

Christmas fun for the whole family

The zoo’s own elves, Zoofus and Zoofie, are a popular part of the Christmas experience. Familiar to many local families, the pair also star in the Christmas film Zoofus and Zoofie – The Forgotten Christmas, which visitors can enjoy during Christmas at Odense ZOO.

Christmas at the zoo is also about caring for wildlife beyond the zoo itself. Through selected activities and products, part of the proceeds supports efforts to protect penguins in the wild. A visit during the festive season can therefore help contribute to the conservation of a species that many guests already know from the zoo’s penguin enclosure.
