Odense as a city

Odense is located on the island of Funen in the heart of Denmark. With around 213,000 inhabitants, it is Denmark's third-largest city. Odense is easy to reach, easy to explore and a city where visitors quickly feel at home.

Odense is constantly evolving and has ambitious plans for future growth and urban development. Through international festivals, conferences and events, the city encourages new ideas and challenges convention. Extensive urban renewal projects have transformed large parts of the city, while the light rail system now connects the northern and southern districts.

This transformation further strengthens Odense's position as a centre for innovation, knowledge and education, supported by internationally recognised clusters within robotics, drone technology, health tech and IT.

HOW TO GET HERE

BY AIR

Billund and Copenhagen airports are directly connected to more than 100 cities around the world and handle 32 million passengers every year. Copenhagen Airport also offers a direct train service to Odense.

BY TRAIN

Transfer by bus and train from Billund takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The journey from Copenhagen Airport to Odense takes approximately 1½ hours by train.

BY CAR

HOW TO GET AROUND

Rejsekort

Rejsekort is an electronic ticketing system for travelling by bus, train and metro. It is valid on all public transport in Odense. You can read more about it and order your own card here.

The Light Rail

The light rail runs through the city from south to north. You can pay with Rejsekort or scan the QR code at the stations, pay with your phone and travel for 1½ hours for DKK 15. The ticket is also valid on city buses.

Where to stay

Odense offers ample hotel capacity to suit every preference and budget. The city currently has more than 1,800 hotel rooms, with additional capacity planned in the coming years. Visitors can also choose from hostels, bed and breakfasts and other types of accommodation.

Most hotel rooms are located in the city centre and within a 5 to 10-minute walk of Odense Railway Station. This makes it easy to meet other delegates, enjoy the city's restaurants or arrange informal meetings.
