Alone Together – All in the Same Boat

Experience a different kind of cultural event in Odense, where you’ll meet others and connect through conversation, food, and film—all inspired by Hans Christian Andersen.

An Evening Where Strangers Become Companions
"Alone, Together – A Shared Journey" is a unique event that invites you to share thoughts and feelings with people you haven’t met before. Through a boat tour with Aafarten, communal dining at Studenterhuset, and an open-air film screening at Amfiscenen, the setting encourages connection and reflection—inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s life and stories.

Reflections Afloat
The evening begins with a boat ride on Aafarten, where you—alongside others who also come alone—set off with conversation cards in hand. These cards feature questions and quotes from Andersen’s works, touching on emotions like longing, hope, and transformation.

Communal Dining at Studenterhuset
After the boat tour, you’ll head to long tables at Studenterhuset for a shared meal. Conversations flow freely—without pressure or pretence. The meal becomes the common ground that sparks dialogue and forges new connections.

Open-Air Film at Amfiscenen
The evening concludes with a film screening under the open sky at Amfiscenen. The film offers a quiet, thoughtful end to an evening of shared stories and emotions.

Community Without Pre-Formed Groups
Everyone arrives on their own—that’s part of the concept. It creates a welcoming space where community grows from the wish to share an experience with others, not from existing relationships.

Getting There
Aafarten, Studenterhuset, and Amfiscenen are all centrally located in Odense and easy to reach by public transport. The light rail and several bus lines stop nearby, and the area is well-connected by bike paths and pedestrian streets.
