Odense for foodies

In Odense, we love food and curiously cultivate the new and the traditional. Restaurants and eateries, cafés, gourmet experiences, street food markets, Funen specialities and produce, food markets and much more form the framework for a city with plenty of opportunities to explore the world of gastronomy.

"The island of Fyn is known as the "garden of Denmark" and has some of the country’s best produce. Brunsviger, a warm, yeasty cake with butter and brown sugar on the top, is one of the local treats." Lonely Planet

Funen is often called Denmark's pantry, Denmark's orchard and Denmark's kitchen garden. These three terms all mean the same thing - the produce on this small island in the centre of the country is something very special. The soil on Funen is the source of some of the best produce in the country.

Whether you're into fine dining, street food or traditional Danish food, Odense has it all. You can also visit the city's food market every Wednesday or Saturday, and sample the fresh Funen vegetables or local cheeses.
Enjoy!
