The iconic little, yellow, corner house in Hans Jensen's Straede, is where Hans Christian Andersen (allegedly) was born in 1805. Almost precisely 100 years later in 1908, the house opened as a museum and this makes it one of the oldest poet museums in the world.
Today the house is located in one of the most expensive neighborhoods but in 1805 it was in the poorest part of town and actually Andersen himself denied ever having set foot in "that hovel".
Tickets at the Hans Christian Andersen Museum 150 meters down the street.
