In Munkemøllestræde, close to the Odense Cathedral, the river and the Fairytale Garden, you will find the little yellow half-timbered house where Hans Christian Andersen lived with his parents from the age of 2 to 14.

H.C. Andersen's mother worked as a washerwoman and washed clothes in Odense Å. Along the river, there were several washing places where the women could put their soapy water.

Odense Theatre is one of Denmark's largest theatres with a large permanent ensemble of actors and more than 10 annual self-produced performances as well as a wealth of guest performances and activities.

The fish ladder is located in Munke Mose in central Odense and was built in 2006 to ensure that fish can move unhindered through the entire Odense River.

At first glance, Odense’s Old Railway Station looks like a traditional station building. Take a closer look, however, and you’ll discover one of the city’s finest examples of Neo-Baroque architecture.
