A day in Odense with your family
Treat the whole family to a day in Odense where you can spend time together and discover something new. We have put together a family-friendly itinerary featuring culture, play and suggestions for places to eat along the way.

Start the day at Hans Christian Andersen’s House and Ville Vau
Begin your day with Odense’s most famous resident at Hans Christian Andersen’s House and Ville Vau – a wonderland for kids, with play zones and immersive rooms full of costumes and exciting props. Grab lunch at Café Deilig or bring your packed lunch along for the next stop.

Take a boat trip along the Odense River to Odense ZOO
Take an Odense Aafart boat to Odense ZOO. Remember to buy your zoo tickets from Odense Aafart so you can skip the queue. The electric boats take you through the leafy surroundings along the river, giving you a different view of Odense from the water. If you still have energy to burn, you can hire a pedal boat from Odense Aafart before continuing your day.

Odense ZOO – Full of Animals and Activities
At Odense ZOO, you’ll meet all kinds of animals and maybe even learn something new. Check their daily programme online so you don’t miss out on any fun. Did you know you can feed the giraffes? Or walk 12 metres above ground in the treetops?

Continue to The Funen Village
Follow the path along the Odense River for approximately 1 km to The Funen Village. Here, you can try traditional crafts, meet the farm animals and discover how people around 1850 repaired and reused their belongings and made the most of the resources available to them. If you need something to eat, you can stop by the inn at Sortebro Kro or take the boat back to the city centre in search of dinner.

What’s for Dinner?
Well, that’s the question every day! We’ve got a few suggestions for you :)

Stay the Night
Of course, you can head home – but maybe you’ve discovered that Odense has more to offer than you expected? There are plenty of family-friendly places to stay that won’t break the budget.
