The historic quarter

Start your walk in Odense’s historic quarter, with its charming cobbled streets, quirky half-timbered façades and wide range of lovely shops, restaurants and museums. This is the original part of the city and the very place where prominent citizens such as Hans Christian Andersen and Oluf Bager once walked many years ago.

Just two kilometres from the Latin quarter, you’ll find Odense harbour, which has undergone a remarkable transformation from industrial port to stylish residential district with a harbour swimming area, restaurants and sports facilities.

Fruens Bøge

And then the route continues to another retreat – this time at the southern end of the city: Fruens Bøge. Once, picnics here were reserved for the upper middle classes, but today, fortunately, everyone can soak up the greenery, enjoy a picnic on the forest floor, take in the view of Skovsøen lake and enjoy old-fashioned ice cream cones.
