Creativity unfolds on the plates and the senses are awakened – whether you’re in the mood for morning coffee at a café, a classic lunch or gourmet dining, the city offers delicious experiences that are hard to resist.

Friday

Evening meal
Start your weekend with dinner at one of the city's fantastic restaurants. Restaurant Aro and Restaurant Sortebro Kro are among some of the city's gourmet restaurants and are both worth a visit and will be a great way to start your culinary adventure.

End your evening with a nightcap
After a delicious dinner, head out into the streets of Odense and experience the vibrant life that can also be found in the late evening hours. Here you can visit one of the city's wine bars or microbreweries. Among others, Anarkist Food & Beer Lab and Amy's Bar & Winehouse are recommended, as you will experience a cosy atmosphere and a large selection of different beers. Odense is also home to several wine bars that are worth a visit, including Lalou Vinbar and S'vineriet Vinapotek.

Saturday

Breakfast
If you don't enjoy breakfast at the hotel, there are many great brunch options in the city. Visit Café Korn or Café Sølle, for example, where you will experience a cosy, authentic atmosphere and be introduced to beautiful, unique brunch dishes.

Lunch
Odense is home to several restaurants that specialise in traditional Danish open-face sandwiches. They include the award-winning Restaurant HosCafé Deilig at the Hans Christian Andersen's House and the popular Kong Volmer's.

Go for a stroll

After lunch, a stroll through Odense's shopping street is recommended. Here you'll find a wealth of small, unique shops. Take a walk through Brandts Passage, where you'll find everything from clothes to ceramics and art, and make your way past Vintapperstræde. Here you can take a break at Christian Firtal and enjoy one of the beer specialist's many options.

Dinner
Gastronomy at its best - Odense recently got its first Michelin-starred restaurant and Restaurant Aro is definitely worth a visit. If a table is not available (book as soon as possible), there are other options. Try Restaurant Oluf Bagers Gård - or if you want to try something completely different, Restaurant Klosterkroen and Storms Pakhus might be just the thing.

Sunday

Brunch
In Odense, you can visit one of Denmark's oldest cafés - Café Gertrud - which has existed since 1986 and is reminiscent of a French café/brasserie. The café is part of an outdoor seating area where you will also find Café Kræz and Café Vivaldi.

We hope you had a great weekend with great food experiences - this is only a small part of Odense's offerings on the gastro scene and we hope you'll stop by again soon. You can see what else you can treat yourself to here.

Local treats

If you feel like visiting some of the local culinary heroes while strolling through the pedestrian streets, why not stop by Mortens Chokolade, where everything is handmade from scratch? Or perhaps you’d like to bring home some edible souvenirs? Funen is full of farm shops, each offering its own specialties, and just south of Odense, you can visit Den Lille Mark, which is open during the summer months and supplies the community with fresh, locally grown vegetables.
